Holidays and the New Year

I must say I am quite happy the Christmas break came when it did because I was completely overwhelmed with things going on and it was amazing to have a few weeks off with doing bugger all!

In the past month or so that I haven’t blogged I’ve been busy coaching, where I had to go down to Grafton for several days for a mini style camp and the crew did a few races. I was moderately pleased with the outcome of the camp, but I’d like to have seen some of the boys really push themselves to see how far they can go.

Anyway, work was pretty hectic leading up to the Christmas break and I was just happy working whatever I could as I’m desperately trying to save as much cash as I can for Paula and I’s trip to the United States in June/July. I’ll have essentially all that I wanted to save within the next few weeks so thats a breath of fresh air!

My biggest accomplishment in these holidays was knocking over all of the Stargate Atlantis seasons (1 – 4) and Im in the process of acquiring the 5th! In the past I’d only catch snippets of the episodes so it was amazing finally seeing each season and those episodes that I missed. If you’re a Sci-Fi person, then I cannot recommend the Stargate season enough!

Finally, I also picked my uni subjects for next semester and it’s looking to be a pretty enjoyable semester. I have Evidence, Civil Procedure, Sports Law and Internet Law! The only downside is, each of these lectures are on seperate days, so it could mean that I have to visit Uni 4 days a week which just isn’t cool! But I’ll sit down some more of the next few weeks and workout if my schedule can permit such travel time!

Anyway, till next time internets!

The power of the Internet

The other day I watched probably one of the most horrifying and horrific things I’ll ever watch in my life (and I like to think of myself as a pretty thick skinned person, but this shook me to my core).

There was this video which contain several Lithuanian people and a dog, whereby this person threw this dog over a bridge (no more than 20 metres high) onto this dirt and it obviously severely hurt so much so you could hear the poor dog howling in pain (made me completely sick and full of rage).

Anyway, internet groups around the world were just as horrified as I were and they made it a vendetta to track this person down. Through trolling who uploaded the video, facebook and other tools, they successfully found who it was and one man presented the evidence to the Lithuanian Police.

It now looks like the man has been caught and will face criminal charges.

(for a brief snap of the results check out http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,26370708-401,00.html)

Anyway, as a Geek, this makes me so proud and puts me in awe of the power of internet users who tracked down the mans identity down within 2/3 days! That is just simply amazing (and quite scary).

So Kudos Internet, Kudos!

Revamp of the Website

I got pretty sick of how much of a drag my website is so I found a new template which looks pretty snazzy and decided to go with it to help me blog some more.

One of the great things about this template is that it allows for me to include my Latest Tweets. Meaning that anyone who doesn’t use Twitter or doesn’t follow me but decides to check my website can now see what Im constantly getting up to.

As it is now exam time, you shouldnt get your hopes up just yet about my return as I should be concentrating heavily on my preparation!
